Dr. Myer Horowitz


Former President, University of Alberta (1979-1989) and Adjunct Professor

Myer Horowitz and his wife, Barbara, moved to Victoria in August 1998. At the University of Victoria he values his courtesy post-retirement appointments of Adjunct Professor of Education and of Leadership Studies. He is on the Executive Committee of the Centre for Early Childhood Research and Policy and served as its Interim Director during the period May 2012 to June 2014.

He is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Youth and Society and is the past chair of its Advisory Board. As well, he is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Family Centre and a Research Affiliate of the Institute for Studies and Innovation in Community-University Engagement.

At Royal Roads University he is an Adjunct Professor of Education Studies and a member of the Advisory Council of the School of Education and Technology. He served as Chair of the Research Ethics Board from its inception until 2012 and continues as a member.
